In today's article, I will guide you through how I made a butterfly coaster set. Follow along with this project and share your result in Lizzsews Facebook group.
What I used:
- Square coaster
- Infusible ink lilac transfer sheets
- butcher paper
- Cricut
- EasyPress 2 + mat
- Cardstock
- Standardgrip mat
The steps I took:
I started out by looking for butterfly designs. I added white squares to my Cricut design space canvas that were 3.75" x 3.75" so I could see how the different designs would look on the coasters. I narrowed my selection down to four designs that I liked and that matched.
Cricut image ID: #M369F6A19 - Butterfly on a Flower
Cricut image ID: #M249AOAFA - Butterflies
Cricut image ID: #MCB3D6C9 - Butterfly
Cricut image ID: #M33FB85O4 - Flowers And Butterfly
Recommended (design): Butterfly coasters set of 4
I resized each butterfly design to match the coaster size. I stuck the infusible ink to the standardgrip mat and used the Cricut brayer to secure it.

I removed the squares from the design, clicked 'make it', and mirrored the design.

Once cut, I weeded the design by peeling off the unnecessary pieces. This process was a little difficult and tedious, but so worth it. I find that using the Cricut weeder to gently hold down certain pieces while peeling off the unnecessary pieces helps. Before placing the design onto the cork-backed square coaster, I wiped down the coaster top with a lint-free cloth. Place the infusible ink design onto the coaster ink side down, liner side up.
I preheated my EasyPress 2 to 400°F. I used the Cricut heat guide to determine the temperature, the amount of time to press for and the pressure to press with. I placed a piece of cardstock on top of the EasyPress mat, placed the square coaster glossy side with the design up and a piece of butcher paper on top of everything. Inside of the infusible ink transfer sheets roll is a piece of butcher paper!
Next, I placed the EasyPress 2 onto everything and left it with no pressure for 60 seconds. Once the timer was up, I slowly lifted up the EasyPress 2. I waited until the liner was a little cooler to the touch to peel as it was very hot.
I repeated the same application steps for the other three coasters.
Each coaster came out great and I'm so happy with my butterfly coaster set!
