Each embroidery machine has its own max embroidery hoop size, for example, the brother se600 has a max of 4" x 4" and the pe800 has a max of 5" x 7". But how can you embroider in a larger hoop?

The short answer is: You can't
It's not possible to embroider in a larger hoop unless you purchase a larger machine. If your machine states that it can stitch 4x4, it can stitch 4x4. If your machine states that it can stitch 5x7, it can stitch 5x7 or 4x4, but not 6x10.
The only exception to this is using a repositional hoop.
What does a repositional hoop do?
A repositional hoop allows you to stitch just a little bit larger area. For example, on a machine that has a hoop size of 4x4, you could stitch 4x6.
How does it work?
By changing the attachment position of the frame, you embroider the same area without rehooping the fabric. To do this, you must split your design in embroidery software. You stitch out one half of the design, move the attachment position of the frame, and stitch out the other half.
