Sometimes you want to machine embroider something but it cannot be hooped, this is when you would float your project. Your blank might be too small or too large, too thick, an in-the-hoop design, or not stretchy enough. No matter the reason, it's important to know how to float your embroidery project.

What you'll need:
A stabilizer base- often cutaway or wash away
Pins, tape or basting spray (spray away from your machine!)
How to:
1. Hoop your stabilizer base
2. Place your embroidery blank on top. Ensure that it's straight and placed in the hoop so that your design will be where you want it to be on the blank.

Use basting spray to adhere your stabilizer base and blank together, or pin them together (keep the pins as far away from the embroidery foot as you can).
- Optional: if your design is really thick on top like a towel, you may want to place a layer of water-soluble stabilizer on top.
- Optional: Embroider a basting stitch around everything to hold it all together, this would also allow you to remove your pins- we don't want any more broken needles!
